Yes, there are Penguins in the Galapagos, Crazy!
As strange as it may seem there are Penguins in the Galapagos swimming at the equator where it’s always HOT. This time I got a chance to swim up close to one but still keeping my distance. One of the cool things about the Galapagos Penguins and the other animals on the Galapagos Islands is that they have no fear of humans. Maybe it because they don’t have little children chasing them at the park or people trying to catch them. Really I don’t know and it’s not my expertise but it’s very cool that they allow us to view them in their natural habitat without rushing to get away.
So I was told that his name is Whiskey “Because he’s always on the Rocks!”
Well I laughed. Our tour guide was funny. They all seemed to have a sense of humor on all of our tours. By-the-way this tour that we saw the Galapagos Penguin was on the Los Tuneles Tour. It cost about $90 US. It was a about 6 hours and included lunch and snorkeling gear. It was well worth the money for such a great experience.
There were more Galapagos Penguins on other lava rocks and I have taken many more images and from different sites. My favorite experience with them was to watch them swim. I tried to capture the Galapagos Penguin swimming under water on more that one occasion but had trouble with my GoPro. I think next time I will eliminate using my GoPro it doesn’t have the crisp quality that I’m looking for. If you are planning a trip to the Galapagos please try a few different camera out before hand. It’s not that easy of a place to go pick up a new camera and try to capture these moments again.
